New Cat Breed Discovered!

The Red Fox has the widest geographical range of any member of the order Carnivora, covering nearly 70 million km². They range across the entire northern hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to southern North America, Europe, North Africa, the Asiatic steppes, India, and Japan.

Zoologists traveling to an isolated area of North Africa were startled to discover a feral cat trotting along the side of the road that appeared to be a cross between a feline and a Red Fox.

The strange feline’s most distinctive feature was its unusual markings including a red coat, black legs and tail, and a white patch on its chest that extended up its throat on to its chin and cheeks. This is the typical color pattern of the red fox. In addition, while the cat’s face was clearly that of a cat, its ears were over-sized and fox-like.

The researchers were intrigued. Stopping their vehicle, they hustled to try to entice the fascinating creature closer while recording it on their phones. The “foxy” cat” resisted capture and swiftly galloped away, disappearing into a nearby forested area. Later the same day on the same road, the scientists saw a red fox and a tabby cat trotting together along the ridge of a hill. Could these be the parents of the strange animal they had seen earlier?

It seems unlikely… because the image of the fox-cat is a creation by Artist Galina Bugaevskaya who brilliantly photoshops cat faces onto other animals and inanimate objects. Her Instagram account is known as “Koty Vezde” which means “Cats Are Everywhere”.  She is indeed inspired by felines… as are we all.

Happy April Fool’s Day!
