In Riverside, California in the 1960s, a white Persian/Angora type cat named Josephine owned by Ann Baker produced several litters by unknown male Birman or Burmese-like males. Josephine produced pointed kittens with a docile, placid temperaments, affectionate natures, and a tendency to go limp and relaxed when picked up. They are the foundation of the Ragdoll breed.
